Let me point out, that I DON'T think it is Intrudn' who is ignorant, it is the soldier who wrote the letter. But of course, if soldiers would not be ignorant, how could they be soldiers ? (I have been in the aramy for 6 years).
He does not even try to understand the Afghans. His lack of empathy with the poeple who have been trying to survive in this poor country that has had civil war for decades, is terrible. I wonder what USA would look like after years of civil war, dry years with no crop in the fields, and a Russian invasion, followed by the rule of Talibans. There just can't be much "high culture" left. And then somebody comes from abroad and call you "monkies"...
I think I will drop this discussion here. As I said, this is not the right forum. I am pretty sure Bert Heise says somewhere on the main page that he hopes we will stick to bike-related issues. Let us respect that and not turn his forum into some international mudwrestling place.
BUT what Polar Pilot said is definitely true - we are about to loose some of the edge. The fact is, that this forum is what we - the readers and writers - make it to. I was not impressed by the yahoo-site. I think this forum is better, and worth some effort from our side. I will take up the issue of touring on a Savage.
